Coalition to ban coalitions

I suppose the new Government has to be called something, and they’re not going to adopt the ConDem tag, or call themselves LibCon either. But calling themselves “the Coalition” is more than just expediency, isn’t it?

Seems to me it’s a rather clever piece of branding, obscuring the fact that a) we have Conservatives running the country again, which most people didn’t want and indeed, voted tactically against, and b) that the Libs have got into bed with them.

It suggests that the new Government is somehow above politics, as does their repeated use of “the new politics”, which will soon be revealed to be a smokescreen for even more of the same old politics (backroom deals, heavy-handed whipping, fixing the rules of parliamentary committees… oops, they’ve already started on that one).
