Elevate me later

Yvette Cooper has an excellent piece in the Guardian today challenging those who have questioned her decision not to stand for the Labour leadership – or rather those who suggest that she’s been ordered not to by her husband, Ed Balls, because he wants the job. She may have been Secretary of State for one of the biggest spending departments in the last Government, but she obviously can’t make a decision for herself. (Sarcasm alert). She’s very open and honest about the reasons for her decision, and I know she’s struggled with feeling that perhaps she’s let the side down, and should have been in there flying the flag for women. But with emancipation comes the right to make decisions for yourself, and to make the decision that is right for you, and that’s what she’s done.
