Second guessing

Apparently a rumour is going round Facebook – oh dear, another reminder I am so behind in checking my Facebook account – that there will be a vote in Parliament in a few weeks time on bringing back hunting.

I’ve not heard anything about this; we only get told business a couple of weeks in advance. If there is, however, it won’t have any actual effect… the Coalition have said something about a vote in Parliament on it ‘to see the mood of the House’. Which I take to mean that if the House shows itself to be in favour of repealing the ban, the Government will bring forward legislation, but if it clearly rejects the idea, then they will decide it’s more hassle than it’s worth, and will take up too much time for no real purpose. (Not that we’re exactly swamped with parliamentary business at the moment, as I blogged a few days ago.)
