Waiting for Ed Miliband’s speech….

Why does Adam Boulton have a job? Earlier on he said that Alastair Darling was “granted” a Conference speech yesterday “as he’s standing down from the Shadow Cabinet”, “as was Jack Straw today”. It’s nothing whatsoever to do with that! The Chancellor/ Shadow Chancellor always speaks on the Monday, and all the senior Cabinet members get to do a speech. (A class performance from AJ this morning by the way, with some affectionate jibes about Jack Straw being around when the Webbs drafted Clause 4 and forming the Labour Representation Committee with Keir Hardie. Worth watching).

And now Adam Boulton has just said that there are 15 elected places in the Shadow Cabinet, and we’ll be voting for (at least) 6 women
and 9 men. There are 19 elected places. 19 votes. Surely it’s not that difficult to get such basic facts right?

Basic facts dont come into it with reporting by Sky News. They wont be chaning the habit of a lifetime soon – look at how they’ve been reporting the leadership results.
