Boris Nemtsov update

Good piece from the Economist about the Boris Nemtsov arrest (see below) and concerns about repression of political dissent in Russia. Apparently after his arrest on New Year’s Eve his defence lawyers made around ten attempts to appeal, but the courts refused to consider them, because Russia was on a 10-day New Year’s holiday that doesn’t end until January 11. Amnesty International has declared him a prisoner of conscience and is calling for his release.
