Going to rattle off a few quick blog posts… we’ve supposedly been on a running three line whip since 3.30pm on the EU Bill, which continues till 10pm, but haven’t had any votes yet. They’re still on Clause 1. I have decided my time would be better spent in the office, dealing with emails, than intruding on private Tory grief in the Chamber.
First up, a plug for Sharon Hodgson’s Ticket Touts Bill. It was talked out by the usual suspects on Friday just gone, but she’s continuing with the campaign. As you can see from the transcript of the debate, she’s put a phenomenal amount of work into it already, and has got support from some big names.
This is probably one of those issues that will take a fair amount of time, maybe even a year or more, plugging away at it, constantly finding more examples to identify what is an increasing problem, before anyone in a position of power acts. And the political imperative to act will only take root if it’s driven by public pressure. So if you’re someone who’s frustrated that can’t get tickets to music or sporting events because they’ve all been snapped up by the touts (sometimes, it’s alleged, in collusion with the ticket sellers) start lobbying your MP now.
