Joy Division – New Dawn Fades
Lemonheads – Different Drum
Soulwax – Too Many DJs
Sam Cooke – Bring It On Home To Me
New Order – Temptation (7″ version)
Jesus and Mary Chain – You Trip Me Up
Teenage Fanclub – Everything Flows
The Four Tops – Reach Out I’ll Be There
Pavement – AT&T
I’d probably have had Bob Dylan – Idiot Wind in there, but all I can find on YouTube is dodgy covers of people playing it in their bedrooms on acoustic guitars.

Hmm – I’ll have to do this on my blog. “Bring it on home” might well make it. Also like the Four Tops song – but it wouldn’t make the cut.
Will have to think.
You blog’s changed a bit since I was last here Kerry !
JAMC? Pavement? Wow. You get my vote! Well not literally becasue I;’m not a constituent. I doubt my (Tory) MPO as even heard of these bands.
Great selection, with small quibble that I would put ‘Shadowplay’ ahead of ‘New Dawn Fades’ as my Joy Division favourite. Is the selection of ‘New Dawn fades’ a coded comment on the disappointment of the Blair years….”A new dawn has broken has it not…..”
It might be more fun and easier to compile a top 8 tracks with “teen” in the title, on its own or as part of another word.
#diversityaudit As far as I know all of these musicians are male.
Not too much about politics Baron de Quietzapple…
Wot? No femininism neiver?
No women, but how many people have Belgians in their Desert Island Discs? I must get some credit for that!
Reports suggest that there is in fact a female in New Order
The Coal Porters’ Idiot Wind is on YouTube but like their Teenage Kicks sounds unlike the version I have and love.
Can no longer find the Peggy Seegar song (with Ewan Macoll) which begins: Lady! What do you do all day! – truly marvellous. If you’ve not heard it you might edge a female vocal into your top ten/eight Kerry.
I can’t believe you missed this live version of Idiot Wind. It’s been up there for a few years. It’s from 1976 and is insanely good in my opinion. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=405_1311641334
Pavement over the mighty Fall ?
just seen your Industrial choices…..I must be getting old if an MP’
s tastes are the same as mine !! Bless you – my Tory git of an MP would be all Dire Straits & Elgar. I may move to Bristol so I can vote for you.
